Various tabs form a group that eventually works together and performs multiple responsibilities of the app. There is no doubt in the fact that it is quite an important part of the ecosystem. In Salesforce, we increase the scope of this term and include other things as well. However, the basic idea behind it simply consists of 3 major components,

  1. Logo
  2. Name
  3. Ordered Set of Tabs

Further, if we take the elementary app, it only contains the Default logo and a Home tab. Hence, it is not rocket science to understand all the concepts based on apps in Salesforce.

We have two types of apps in Salesforce,

Standard Apps

As the name suggests, these apps are already included in the Salesforce instant, and you get default access to them. Users have a little bit of control over making necessary changes and get the best output. Thus, you get relevant results depending on the requirements of your organization. However, some aspects like description, label, and logo are fixed, and you can’t change them.

Example- App Launcher, Sales, Community, Salesforce Chatter, Marketing, etc.

Custom Apps

Custom Apps are user-oriented and are designed to fulfill specific demands of a business or organization. On top of it, you can combine standard and custom tabs to create a unique app accordingly. The best thing is that you can change the logo and other details in the future if necessary.

Console Apps

If you want a more advanced UI experience for the project, Console Apps has got you covered. These are better as users can now experience highly paced service environments and other functionalities. Moreover, it allows them to make changes and update configurations in a single window. All these will take effect without the need to refresh the webpage each time.

Although, you have the option of a partial reload that works wonders to update the whole page. For better accessibility, it contains chat and call features like LiveAgent and Softphone, respectively.
